Carpool

Carpool Reminders:

Carpool has become extremely UNSAFE.  Please review the carpool information below.

  • Student arrival is 8:15 am - 8:35 am. Students must be signed in at the office after 8:35 am by an adult.
  • Students may NOT stand outside of the school before 8:15 am without an adult.  It is unsafe for students as there is no supervision and students will NOT be allowed inside the building for any reason.  If you are having drop off issues please contact the school for assistance.

We have two carpool options:

  1. You may drive your car into our carpool lane directly in front the school.
    1. Please have your student ready to exit the car once you are in the carpool lane.
    2. If your student needs assistance from you to exit the car please do not utilize the carpool lane.  Parents should NOT exit their vehicle for any reason while in the carpool lane.
    3. Please wait for an adult to open the door and let your student out in carpool.  If there is a large space between you and the next car please pull up before allowing your child to exit.
    4. Do not exit the carpool lane as soon as your student gets out.  Wait until the group is moved by the traffic monitor who is ensuring that all cars can move forward safely.  If a car has an issue in front of you we will adjust and help you exit carpool safely.
  2. You may park and wait in the walker line to pick up your student.
    1. You MUST wear a mask if you will utilize walk ups.
    2. Please park in a LEGAL parking spot before joining this line.  The bus lane and the corner of S. Roman are not safe or legal parking spots.  Please refrain from placing your cars in this area; it is very unsafe and causes traffic jams and unsafe situations for everyone.
    3. If your older student is going to get out and pick up your younger student please DO NOT stop in the middle of the street on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd to let your passenger out to join the walker line.
    4. If you are walking up for your student please only cross at the crosswalks to travel across the street.

PLEASE STOP DROPPING YOUR STUDENTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET.  IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!

We know the line may appear long but when everyone works together our line is efficient and fast.  Families trying to work around our system are causing carpool to be dangerous and inefficient due to traffic jams and illegal parking.

Lastly, if you are planning to pick your student up before usual dismissal you must ARRIVE ON CAMPUS by 3:00 pm (1:00 pm Wednesdays) to check your student out.  If you need to change your students route home your must CALL (504-373-6290) the office by 3:00pm (1pm Wednesday) or TEXT (504-517-5725) to make changes for your child's route home.  Texting your child's teacher or only telling your student is not an effective communication method.
